Marcelo Salas is for my, the best Chilean soccer player that We ever had.

José Marcelo Salas Melinao (born December 24, 1974 in Temuco), better known as Marcelo Salas, is a former football player from Chile. He has been one of Chile's most recognised football players.

Salas started playing on Deportes Temuco until his father took him to Santiago de Chile in order to be incorporated into Universidad de Chile.

Salas debuted playing for Universidad de Chile in 1994 against Cobreloa where he also scored a goal. Salas helped the team to win two titles in 1994 and 1995.

After that, he was sold to River Plate where also made a great campain, in 1998 he starts playing in Europe in Lazio and Juventus.

Marcelo Salas reached the record of 37 goals for his country and he announced his retirement on November 26, 2008, at the age of 33.
