The architecture as a profession, don’t have more than 160 years in Chile. At this moment, we had only two types of schools of architecture: the neoclassical and the modern school. Both ways of understanding architecture have been imported from abroad, mainly from Europe and have represented to us indisputable truths of teaching profession.
After 200 years of the Republic, I think it's time to achieve cultural independence in the field of architecture. For me, a really valuable professional achievement, would be able to become a promoter of a way to understand the architectural design that is truly your own to our culture, our history and our geography.
